Do you need an interior designer? We’re partnering with interior designers like Sandrine. Make an enquiry today through our interior design service. We sat down to chat about the path to becoming an interior designer, interior trends to look for in 2023, and her most exciting projects.
What drew you to interior design as a career path?
My name is Sandrine Montlouis, I was born in Paris but moved to Martinique (French Caribbean) at 12 years old. I always loved interior design since a young age. I got this passion from my mum.
The satisfaction of creating a space and make it home, an office, a lobby. The atmosphere that lighting creates in a room for example. The importance of the lay out of your room, the furniture or even the soft furnishings… all those elements will affect anyone ‘s life on a daily basis.
How did you get started with interior design?
I moved to London 9 years ago, studying at the British Academy of Interior Design. I worked for almost 5 years as an interior designer/home stylist for a homeware company and in 2019 I started to work for few property developers; one of my first client was Euroterra capital property until early 2022.
I designed the interior of 4 buildings in Bayswater and Marylebone, as well as projects for Eson Property in Marylebone. With Instagram and other platforms, I am able to reach a certain clientele to work on private projects.

What trends are you expecting to take off in 2023?
I think that 2023 when it comes to interior is about individualism, sustainable products, and craftsmanship. The importance of making the right environmental choice matters even more but Personalization of your interior and uniqueness are definitely back in. The craftsmanship behind home accessories like a vase a table lamp or the bespoke shelving unit is valued again. The story behind the product matters. Almost like an art piece.
I feel like clients are no longer interested in coordinated spaces and matching furniture sets. They prefer to simply incorporate unique pieces.
Organic shapes are staying in 2023. Natural linens like Tencel bedding set for example, not only is sustainable but a quality choice. Colour and cheerful hues, wooden home decor, greenery or statement plants, stone surface on wooden furniture.
What is the most popular interior trend requested by your clients?
Definitely the mid-century period when it comes to furniture and home decor is a big request in most of my projects. Bespoke furniture requests like a bedside table or a home office desk are popular.

Tell us about your most exciting project.
My most exciting project was the 34 Leicester Garden in London, W2 Bayswater.
I was really grateful to work as the only interior designer in this gorgeous Victorian building. The client wanted a modern/Victorian interior style for entire building, including 8 flats, communal areas, and 4 home offices.
I really enjoyed working on unique furniture pieces to create that modern/Victorian interior; from choosing a bespoke shelving unit to bespoke piece of art…using the bold colours and floral patterns of the Victorian era but also the neutral tones for a contemporary twist. Seeing the installation of a massive chandelier from Jonathan Adler on top of a contemporary led dining table from Kelly Hoppen was exciting for me.
Seeing the evolution of this project from sketching to installation felt like 6 months of blessing.
What is your favourite piece from Latzio?
Sandrine: “I love the Seagrass Pendant Light. Sleek and rustic. It’s gorgeous!”
Sandrine: “The perfect gift!”
Sandrine: “I love the large pink strawberry vase – the gorgeous organic shape of it.”
